It’s Friday! It’s the end of the work-week AND for me there’s an added bonus: I get to blog about something a little off topic. I pitched this idea to my supervisor by saying that, ‘no one wants to crunch real estate numbers on a Friday’, and it kind of worked- there was no specific written agreement, but there’s and understanding. I took some basic psychology courses in College and have always liked doing some armchair psychology from time to time. For quantitative Psych, there is, of course, the
Myers-Briggs personality test. That helps you narrow down the field. A quick look shows that Real Estate Agents and Brokers tend to be ISTJs and ESTPs, but that’s not really a fun, Friday assessment.
I’ve taken this test a few times and always come out as an INTJ – It’s surprising to see how well this fits my personality in terms of potential careers, but it seems like a really boring, institutional assessment overall. I think that a much more accurate representation of one’s career and personality fit, is the
MSC Test.
The Muppet Show Character Test tells you quickly and accurately what kind of an individual you are. Actually, there are almost as many muppet-types as there are Myers-Briggs Types, and the MSC Test is a whole lot more fun. I've found that some of the characters even match up visually to some co-workers. This got me started thinking about what Muppet Character I would buy a home from.
My first thought was Sam the Eagle: trustworthy, loyal, serious, but somehow lacking the social skills needed to be a good realtor. I think that Miss Piggy would be good to have on your side- she’d do what it takes to get the deal done, but man, I do not want to deal with her! Kermit would be a logical option, but I think he is too soft spoken to be effective.
